Voter turnout in Finland was slightly lower (40.4%) than the EU average (51%).
Heidi Hautala, who has represented the Greens for 24 years, resigned from Parliament.
Forecasts (or opinion polls) before the elections were threatening: there were fears that the number of MEPs would drop from three to one. In the end, however, two Green MEPs were elected from Finland: Ville Niinistö (MEP since 2019) and Maria Ohisalo, both former chairmen. The Greens received 11% of the votes. A total of 15 MEPs were elected from Finland. Another positive result is that the number of Finns Party MEPs fell from two to one.
Several former or even current chairmen of other parties were also elected to Parliament.
