Text: UN Decade of Healthy Ageing Every year on 1 October, the world comes together to mark the UN International Day of Older Persons (#UNIDOP): an opportunity to highlight both the opportunities and challenges of later life. This year’s #UNIDOP theme is ‘Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) for Older Persons: Across Generations’. As we approach 75 years since the adoption of the UDHR, what actions can we take to build on its principles and ensure later lives of meaning and dignity? You can get involved in three ways: 1. Add your work, knowledge, and perspectives on the rights of older persons and intergenerational solidarity to the UN Decade’s online Platform. Contributions will be featured on the Platform’s #UNIDOP2023 hub and the UN Decade’s social media. 2. Tag or mention @UNDecadeAgeing and #UNIDOP2023 on social media so we can amplify your celebrations. You can also use the UN Decade’s Partnering Kit, including a supporters’ logo, to visibly connect your initiatives with a global movement. 3. Find out more about the UN’s official commemorations for the day, including those organised by regional commissions, and join the conversations! |
